Surnames: GRINDSTAFF CLARK WOODS WARNICK HATFIELD MONTGOMERY
Submitter: Susan Axton (SueAxton@aol.com)
Date: 22 Mar 1999

Maybe someone from that area can help me solve the mystery of what happened to my G-Gandfather, Logan GRINDSTAFF. Logan was born in April of 1886 to William T. GRINDSTAFF and I think-Mary Eliza CREASON. Logan married Ocie Gladys WOODS, dau. of John WOODS and Nancy J. CLARK. Nancy was the dau. of John P. CLARK and Melissa WARNICK. Ocie Gladys and Logan had 2 children, Verda b.May 1905 and Alvin, b. 1907. The only thing the family remembers is,"They found out that Logan was found dead by the railroad tracks" They didn't know if he fell of, in front of, or was robbed, or even where this happened. The only clue I have is an article in The Record, Novinger newpaper of Nov. 19, 1909 that the body of an unidentified man abt. 25 yrs. old was found under the Chicago, Milwaukie, and St. Paul Bridge near Liberty. He was buried in Randolph Heights. Another young man disappeared in Schuyler County about the same time and I was unable to find if they determined who this was. When I was there researching, I didn't know about Liberty Township, and thought this happed in Liberty by Kns. City.I have spent a few dollars looking for a death certificate, but none has been located. The only way I know Logan even existed is one census and a marriage record. Would be glad to hear from anyone that knows about any of these names. Other names in the Sullivan,Putnam, Adair, Schuyler County areas are, HATFIELD, MONTGOMERY, WELLMAN, BASS

Surnames: CASON ESPINOSA
Submitter: Cindy Kirkland (grafxcat@airmail.net)
Date: 20 Mar 1999

I am searching for a friend who lost touch with her father's family as a small child when her parents divorced. Both of her parents are deceased and she was an only child, so has no one to ask. I am helping her find her paternal lineage. Her grandfather was Forest D. Cason, b. between 1906-8 in or around Green Castle, MO. He married her mother, Rufina Espinosa in Denver, Co. The Espinosas were a very old and prominent Colorado family. She knows he (her father) had a half sister named Maxine Cason but does not know her married name or if she married. Their father would have owned a farm near Green Castle.

So far I have found two Cason families in the 1850 Sullivan Co. census. I have not determined which of these families would connect to him or even if they are related. They were Samuel C. Cason aged 35 at the time of the census and b. in VA, wife Elizabeth aged 24 also b. Va and three children; Thomas P aged 4, Nancy aged 2 and Louisa aged 1, all b. in MO. The other family was for William N. Cason aged 46 b. in VA, wife Nancy aged 27 b. KY and two children, Matha aged 3 and James aged 1 both b. in MO. Samuel and William Cason could very well have been brothers from VA.

If any of these people are the fathers of Forest C. Cason, it probably would have been one of the little boys mentioned, who would have been in their early sixties by the time he was born. In fact they would have been old enough to be his grandfather.

If anyone is searching CASON of Sullivan Co. from around the Green Castle area I would like to hear from you. I would like to tie Forest into one of these families.
Sincerely, Cindy Kirkland
